to be a princess...
Whatever comes, cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it.

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett is both beautiful and so, so sad.
I am currently reading it and it has made made me realise how wonderful older books are (this one was first published in 1905!) and how sadly overlooked they are today. I love anything with a princess theme, of course, but this one is particularly beautiful because it tells us that any girl can be a princess, no matter what she looks like, or how much money she has. You can all be princesses, and so can I :)

Hi, I'm Amber. I love your blog! :)
There is a sequal to A Little Princess, I'm not sure if it's already out or not. It's called Wishing For Tomorrow by Hilary McKay.
